Radiometrics Midwest Corporation’s compact semi-anechoic EMC chamber provides a controlled electromagnetic test environment for electronic products, components and systems.
The chamber complements Radiometrics’ large 10-meter chamber and other EMC test environments, providing additional flexibility for product development, engineering evaluation, pre-compliance testing and applicable compliance measurements.
Compact Semi-Anechoic Chamber
The chamber is a high-quality Panashield shielded enclosure measuring approximately 12 feet wide by 20 feet long by 12 feet high.
The interior incorporates Toyo ferrite absorber material to control electromagnetic reflections and provide an environment suitable for applicable radiated EMC measurements and engineering evaluations.
The chamber includes a turntable and antenna mast, providing flexibility for product positioning and antenna placement during applicable EMC measurements and engineering evaluations.
Its size makes the chamber useful for a wide range of electronic products and systems while allowing Radiometrics to operate multiple EMC test programs across our facility.
Radiated Emissions and Immunity Testing
The compact chamber supports applicable radiated emissions and immunity measurements, developmental evaluations and engineering investigations.
Depending on the applicable test method and chamber qualification, applications can include:
- Radiated emissions measurements
- Radiated RF immunity testing
- Product development measurements
- Pre-compliance evaluation
- Engineering investigations
- EMC troubleshooting
- Comparative measurements
- Design-change evaluation
The appropriate chamber and test configuration are selected based on the applicable standard, frequency range, measurement distance and product requirements.
Pre-Compliance EMC Testing
Pre-compliance testing allows manufacturers to identify potential EMC problems before committing to a formal compliance program.
The compact chamber can be particularly useful for evaluating:
- Enclosure shielding changes
- Cable configurations
- Grounding and bonding
- Filter changes
- Power-supply emissions
- Digital circuitry
- Product orientation
- Operating modes
Engineering changes can often be evaluated quickly so manufacturers can determine whether a modification improves EMC performance.
EMC Troubleshooting
When a product exceeds an emissions limit or exhibits an electromagnetic susceptibility problem, controlled measurements can help identify the source or coupling path.
Radiometrics engineers can work with the customer’s engineering team to investigate potential EMC problems and evaluate corrective changes.
Having multiple test environments available allows Radiometrics to select an appropriate chamber for the equipment and engineering objective.
Additional Chamber Capacity
Multiple EMC chambers provide more than additional physical space.
They allow Radiometrics to support different types of projects and engineering evaluations without relying on a single test environment for every measurement.
The compact semi-anechoic chamber complements our 10-meter chamber, fully anechoic chamber and shielded enclosures as part of Radiometrics’ broader EMC facility.
