Radiometrics Midwest Corporation provides CISPR 32 and EN 55032 electromagnetic emissions testing for multimedia equipment at our A2LA-accredited EMC laboratory in Illinois.

CISPR 32 establishes emissions requirements for multimedia equipment and includes requirements for Class A and Class B equipment. EN 55032 is commonly used for European EMC compliance of products within its scope.

CISPR 32 / EN 55032 Testing Capabilities

Radiometrics performs CISPR 32 / EN 55032 testing on electronic and electrical products using representative equipment configurations, cables, peripherals and operating modes.

Our capabilities include:

  • Radiated emissions testing
  • Conducted emissions testing
  • Class A and Class B equipment
  • AC and DC powered products
  • Applicable wired-port measurements
  • Multiple operating modes
  • Peripheral and support equipment configurations
  • Pre-compliance evaluation
  • Emissions troubleshooting and engineering support

Multimedia Equipment Emissions Testing

CISPR 32 applies to multimedia equipment within the scope of the standard.

Products may require evaluation of several possible emission paths depending on their power sources, external connections and functions.

Representative operating modes, cables and peripherals are important because equipment configuration can significantly affect measured emissions.

Radiated Emissions Testing

Radiated emissions testing evaluates unwanted RF energy radiated by the EUT and its associated cables.

Radiometrics configures and operates the product according to the applicable requirements while measurements are performed over the required frequency range.

Conducted Emissions Testing

Conducted emissions testing evaluates RF disturbances present on applicable wired connections.

Depending on the product configuration, measurements may apply to power connections and other applicable wired ports specified by the standard.

Class A and Class B Equipment

CISPR 32 covers both Class A and Class B multimedia equipment.

The applicable classification affects the emissions limits that must be met. Radiometrics can assist manufacturers in determining the appropriate classification for the intended product environment.

CISPR 22 / EN 55022 Legacy Requirements

CISPR 22 and EN 55022 were historically used for information technology equipment emissions testing.

CISPR 22 has been replaced by CISPR 32. However, older product specifications, customer requirements and legacy test reports may continue to reference CISPR 22 or EN 55022.

Radiometrics can assist manufacturers in reviewing legacy requirements and determining whether CISPR 22 / EN 55022 or the current CISPR 32 / EN 55032 requirements are appropriate for the project.

Pre-Compliance Testing and Troubleshooting

Pre-compliance measurements can help identify emissions problems before a formal compliance test program.

If excessive emissions are identified, Radiometrics can work with the manufacturer’s engineering team to characterize the frequencies, cables, operating modes or configurations associated with the problem.

Where practical, changes involving filtering, shielding, grounding, cable configuration, power supplies or other potential emission sources can be evaluated during testing.
